Art History - Bachelor's study program

Information for prospective students

Course content, study program structure, and the application process – guidance and information on the Bachelor's study program in Art History at the University of Stuttgart.

Study program structure and content

At the center of art history are visual objects. "Learning to see" – the ability to visually analyze works of art – is therefore an important foundation for studying art history. In addition, as is customary for any academic discipline, students learn the fundamentals of scholarly research and writing. These are the essential tools for independently researching historical source material and critically engaging with current academic literature. The research subjects are analyzed and interpreted based on this. A particular focus in the program is on working with originals on site.
