Language Requirements

  • Because specialist literature is not only available in German, knowledge of other modern foreign languages is an advantage. 
  • The following are mandatory for art history as a major subject:
    • By the third semester, proof of proficiency in English and another foreign language (this may also be Latin) and
    • Proof of Latin proficiency by the time of registration for the Bachelor's thesis.
  • There are no language requirements when studied as a minor subject.

Application period for the winter semester: May 15 – September 15

Generally, if one of your subjects has restricted admission, apply by July 15; if your subjects are open admission, apply by September 15.
