Study program structure and content
In the Master’s program in Architecture and Urban Planning, you will practice architectural design and further develop your artistic, technical, and scientific skills through seminars. The program consists of three semesters and a Master’s thesis in the fourth semester. You must complete three design projects (usually one per semester). You will also attend seminars that complement and expand on your coursework. You must complete seven seminars. You have complete freedom in choosing topics for your projects and seminars. You are responsible for choosing an individual specialization in which you will prepare for your Master’s thesis through design projects and seminars.
In your Master’s thesis in the fourth semester, you will bring together the knowledge and skills acquired throughout your studies. The topic of the Master’s thesis should be chosen freely on an individual basis and must be agreed upon with the professor of your choice and structured in accordance with the guidelines for your chosen specialization.
In the Master’s program in Architecture and Urban Planning, you have a great deal of freedom in choosing courses and shaping your program. The Architecture and Urban Planning Colloquium is the only compulsory module. It takes place each winter semester as a lecture series in which the faculty introduces its work. In this lecture series, faculty members take turns presenting and reflecting on current perspectives in architecture and urban planning.
