Shape the world of tomorrow

How can we make our built environment beautiful, livable, and diverse? How can we develop climate-responsive visions and plans for the world of tomorrow while taking into account economic, social, environmental, and technological change?

The Master’s program in Architecture and Urban Planning brings together numerous subject areas from a broad spectrum of artistic, technical, and scientific disciplines. The program provides a broad education and promotes interdisciplinary thinking so that you can identify and analyze complex issues and independently develop solutions. The program will prepare you to become an independent planner with a comprehensive understanding of architectural culture.
In the Master’s program in Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Stuttgart, you will build on the skills acquired during your bachelor’s program and specialize in an area of your choice from the range of topics offered by the faculty. By specializing in urban planning, you can also meet the requirements for inclusion on the list of urban planners.

For this master’s degree, you should be interested in the artistic, technical and scientific aspects of architecture and urban planning. Curiosity about social and cultural developments, as well as a willingness to critically reflect on your own designs and ideas, are also important.

You will choose and work on projects and seminars largely independently, so initiative and self-reliance are helpful. You should also be able to organise your work, manage complex tasks responsibly and see them through. Openness to other perspectives and a willingness to collaborate are equally valuable.

Formal admission requirements include a relevant bachelor’s degree in architecture and urban planning or a closely related subject, as well as a portfolio of work samples.
