Study program structure and content
In the first semesters, students receive a fundamental education in key subjects such as biology, physics, chemistry, and mathematics, complemented by data sciences (biomathematics, biostatistics, and bioinformatics) and an introduction to scientific work. This provides you with tailored preparation for three highly relevant specialization areas:
- Biomedical Systems: Explore diseases and develop new treatments!
- Digital Biology: The future of biology is digital!
- Bioengineering & Biofabrication: Biology as a toolkit for innovative technologies!
Bioengineering & Biofabrication: Biology as a toolkit for innovative technologies! Throughout the entire program, great emphasis is placed on hands-on experience through laboratory and computer-based exercises, enabling students to train in cutting-edge experimental, analytical, and computational methods.
An important pillar of the program is research-based learning modules, which introduce students to practical scientific work in all its facets – such as literature review, developing research ideas and corresponding experiments, as well as scientific writing and presenting. This way, you will be well prepared for your bachelor's thesis as the end of your B.Sc. studies – before seamlessly transitioning into the master’s program with us.
