Study program structure and content
In Mechatronics, you don’t learn just one aspect of a technical system; you learn to design and develop dynamic and complex systems in an integrated way. From mechanical design and the development of electrical circuits to programming, control, regulation, and simulation – you become familiar with every stage of the development process.
You will learn not only how to apply a formula, but also how to derive it yourself. This enables you to solve complex problems in both practice and research and to independently acquire new areas of knowledge. In a way, you get to "look behind the curtain".
The first semesters
The first four semesters provide you with the theoretical foundations in advanced mathematics, technical mechanics, and electrical engineering, as well as the basics of design and software development. In addition, you deepen the theoretical content through practical components such as projects, internships, and group exercises.
Your studies
In the specialized study phase – the final two semesters (5th and 6th) of the Bachelor’s study program – students can choose their own specializations from 30 different subjects in mechanical engineering and electrical and information engineering, in addition to interdisciplinary courses such as machine dynamics and control and automation engineering. The Bachelor’s thesis marks the successful conclusion of your study program.
