Job & Karriere
In order to teach at a high school level (Gymnasium) you must complete a Master of Education degree after your Bachelor's degree. The University of Stuttgart offers such a Master's degree. You will then continue studying your chosen combination of subjects from the Bachelor's degree in the Master's program for an additional 4 semesters. In the process, you will acquire additional specialist knowledge and complete a semester of practical training at a school.
In the so-called extended Master's program, you can even study a third school subject to broaden your career prospects. Computer science can also be studied as an extended master's degree.
After completing your master's degree, you must still complete your teacher traineeship (Referendariat) at a school. In addition to your teaching activities, you will also attend courses at a teacher training institute. This lasts for 18 months
If you do not wish to become a teacher after completing your studies, there are other career opportunities available to you, e.g. in the field of continuing education and training.
