Study program structure and content
The first semesters
During the first semester, you take lectures, seminars, and practical sessions in physics, mathematics, and general chemistry. A practical course teaches you the basic techniques and skills needed for laboratory work. In this course, teaching focuses on important separation methods and initial experiments.
Your studies
From the third semester onwards, in addition to the core subjects – inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry – students gain valuable insights into biochemistry, polymer chemistry, industrial chemistry, and theoretical chemistry. Students quickly discover which subject most interests you and can choose a corresponding practical laboratory course in the fifth semester.

The course content is delivered through lectures, exercises, seminars, and practical laboratory sessions. Depending on the practical course, experiments are carried out individually or in pairs.
Before conducting experiments, you thoroughly prepare using practical guides and textbooks. During the lecture period, laboratory sessions are typically scheduled in the afternoons. There are also full-day practical laboratory sessions during the lecture-free periods.
After each experiment, a report must be written documenting the procedures and observations.
Lectures are held in front of all students in large lecture halls. Chemistry lectures are typically scheduled in the mornings.
Seminars and exercises are used to reinforce lecture content, explain its relevance to lab experiments, and prepare for them. These sessions typically involve smaller groups of about 15 students.
