Art History
Images shape our view of ourselves and the world. Art history examines this from a historical perspective – from painting, sculpture, and architecture to film, photography, design, and performance. The works are analyzed within their respective cultural, social, or political contexts. The focus is on objects from Europe and North America, ranging from Late Antiquity to the present. The Institute of Art History at the University of Stuttgart offers a broad and diverse range of courses. Cooperations with the Institute of Architectural History and the Stuttgart State Academy of Fine Arts complete the study program.
