Selection criteria and admissions statutes
Simulation Technology B.Sc. conducts selection interviews. The purpose of the selection process is to choose applicants who, based on prior knowledge, motivation, and expectations, are a good fit for the Simulation Technology program and are likely to complete it successfully. They also provide applicants with valuable additional insights into how well they are suited to a particular study program.
The B.Sc. Simulation Technology has a two-stage selection process, consisting of a pre-selection based on the average grade of the Abitur (university entrance qualification) and a final selection based on subject-specific grades and a personal selection interview. The interview gives you the opportunity to discuss your personal special interests, motivation, and prior knowledge.
Information about the evaluation of both components:
Pre-selection
The pre-selection is based on the average Abitur (university entrance qualification) grade. A maximum of 15 points can be achieved here. All applicants with at least 10 points are then included in the second stage of the selection process. To calculate the points, the total points achieved on the Abitur certificate are divided as follows: For Abitur certificates with a maximum of 900 points, the total is divided by 60; for certificates with a maximum of 840 points, the total is divided by 56.
Grades from other countries are converted into German grades according to the guidelines of the KMK (Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs).
Final selection
- School performance (maximum 15 points)
The following grades from the upper secondary school are used to evaluate subject-specific school performance. The sum of these points is divided by 24:- Mathematics (weighted three times): maximum 12 × 15 points
- Highest-graded subject from the group ‘Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science’ (weighted twice): maximum 8 × 15 points
- Highest-graded subject from the group ‘Foreign Language or German’ (weighted once): maximum 4 × 15 points
- Selection interview (maximum 10 points)
A selection committee conducts a selection interview of approximately 15 minutes with each suitable applicant. Applicants are usually invited to the interview one week in advance. After the interview, the selection committee evaluates the applicant (0–10 points) based on their aptitude, motivation for the study program and intended career, as well as their approach to discussing problems. - Selection
The score from the selection interview and the score from school performance are added together (maximum 25 points). Applicants who achieve at least 18 points are considered suitable.
Period of the selection interviews:
The selection interviews take place from one week before to two weeks after the application deadline. You will receive a separate invitation – usually about one week before your interview date. We preferably conduct the interviews on-site in Stuttgart. In principle, online interviews are also possible; please contact us if needed. If you have planned a vacation or are otherwise unavailable during this period, please inform us early by email.
