Field of Work

Prof. Birgit Renzl focus is on Knowledge Management, Strategic Change and Leadership. She is interested in how organizations create and share knowledge, how they develop their strategies in a digital economy, and how leadership changes accordingly.

Organizations need to become more efficient and more flexible at the same time to enhance their innovativeness. Based on theories of organizational behavior we analyze organizations, teams, individuals, processes, structures, and networks, and we include knowledge from other research fields such as psychology, sociology, and engineering.

Personal Information

Birgit Renzl was born in 1974 in Salzburg, Austria. She studied „Internal Economics and Business Studies“ at the Universities of Innsbruck and Göteborg and received her doctor’s degree from the University of Innsbruck (2002). After research leaves at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow (2003) and the University of St. Gallen (2004) she received her Habilitation from the University of Innsbruck (2006). She has been Professor of Strategy & Organization at the Privatuniversität Schloss Seeburg (2009-2015). Since 2015 she is the Chair of Management & Organization at the University of Stuttgart.
