Germany Scholarship (Deutschlandstipendium)

On August 1st, 2010 the Gesetz zur Schaffung eines nationalen Stipendienprogramms (Act on the creation of a national scholarship programme, StipG) came into effect. This national scholarship programme called Deutschlandstipendium (Germany Scholarship) is not only intended to finance studies but as a scholarship for outstanding students it also provides incentives for top performances.

The scholarships amounting to 300 Euro per month are financed in equal parts by the state and by funds raised by Stuttgart University from companies. If it is possible for the university to raise at least 150 Euro per month per scholarship, the state will supplement the scholarship by another 150 Euro. The proportion raised from private sources may be higher.

The scholarships within the framework of the Germany Scholarship shall be granted by the colleges according to performance and talent. Apart from the performances provided so far and the personal development also the social activities of the candidate, the readiness to take over responsibility or particular personal circumstances relating to the family background or a migration background will be taken into consideration.
