Item Information
Admission Letters
  • Admission letters will be available for download on C@mpus once you accept the study place offer. Although you have time to accept the study place offer until end of August, we recommend you to accept it already now even if you change your mind because you need the admission letter to apply for visa and student dormitory.
Shift of Admission
  • A shift of PY17(winter 2017/18) to program PY18 (winter 2018/19) is not possible. You need to apply once again in case you cannot start your studies in time.
Pre-Travel info

Some important steps, dates and deadlines are:

  • Check the German Embassies Homepages for regulations.
  • VISA application: as soon as possible. VISA might need up to 4 months. Make sure that it is a student visa you apply for, not a tourist visa! If you are a citizen of an EU-country you do NOT need a visa to enter Germany. For other countries with visa waivers see support information of the International Office.
  • The embassies may further request a proof of your financial plan. Be prepared to create a blocked bank account (e.g. with Deutsche Bank) to hold some EUR 8.640.00
  • If you have been requested to present your Bachelor Degree Certificate or other documents at time of enrolment, you need to show the original or duly attested copy to the enrolment officer in Stuttgart. Having a first level degree (typically the Bachelor Degree) is a legal requirement (§29 of the State University Law)
  • The department of International Affairs has gathered some important pre-departure information on your first steps in Stuttgart as well as on the possibilities to register for a welcoming service. You can find it here.

Proof of Basic German Proficiency is NO longer a prerequisite for admission. Therefore, the intensive German language course is discontinued. The program is taught completely in English language. However, basic German level is helpful in day-to-day life. We therefore offer German Classes during the term on a limited basis.

Dormitories

You can apply for housing in one of the student dormitories of Studierendenwerk Stuttgart here. Deadline for application is 12 June 2017. Please follow the instructions on how to fill in the application form as outlined in our manual. Please note that there is no guarantee to get a room. Rooms are allocated on a first come first serve basis.

Health insurance

Students  from NON-EU-COUNTRIES ONLY: we urgently ask you to purchase a private travel health insurance before travelling to Stuttgart. This insurance should be valid from the beginning of your  journey until approx 31st of October 2017. From the beginning of your enrollment onwards, you have to purchase German statutory health insurance (approx. 80EUR/month) in case you are less than 30 years of age. If you are older than 30 years of age, you will have to take out a private health insurance based in Germany. Please contact the department of International Affairs for more information upon arrival.

Enrollment

All foreign students have to go to the Admissions Office for Foreign Citizens to proceed with their enrollment. Do not send any documents by post or e-mail, please. The enrollment deadline is 15 November 2017. Before enrolling personally at the Student Affairs Office in Stuttgart (from September on), you can already start the enrollment procedure in C@mpus. Please note however, that we recommend to transfer the tuition fees after your arrival in Stuttgart. Read here our manual on how to enroll at the university of Stuttgart.

General Information on Selection Rules

The selection criteria are mainly your GPA in relation to other candidates from the same university, the country or finally the world. Other information provided as well as information from our knowledge base (regarding applications and students) may have been taken into consideration as well. English language proficiency (if provided or not) is a legal prerequisite, but not a selection criteria. The non-availability of a Bachelor degree certificate at this point of the process, as well as temporary transcripts or not provided English certificates are not used as criteria for selection. Gender and nationality do not play a role for selection.

Application Status
  • All application data and documents are sent by C@mpus to the INFOTECH Admission Commission for evaluation. The Commission has evaluated all applications and informed all applicants about the status of their application (admitted or application not accepted/not successful) by e-mail.

  • The C@mpus data are now being updated to reflect these findings. The symbols in “Admission” will reflect your application status. Not all document related fields will be updated. So a statement like uploaded vs ok does not mean the document has not been read and taken into consideration. Only the document fields “Bachelor Degree Certificate”, “Transcripts of Records”, “Proof of English Language Skills” and the fields for APS and Concour will be updated.

  • If the E-Mail by the Admission Commission –“The Admission Commission (AdmC) of the INFOTECH Master Program proposed you for Admission to the Program. Congratulations!“ states that you have been proposed for admission to the rector, please check C@mpus for your admission letter.

  • If the E-Mail by the Admission Commission and the statement in C@mpus“Qualifying admission requirements not fulfilled “ state either:

"We received applications in excess of more than 10-times our seat capacity. As a consequence, the admission commission had to make a selection. As published the selection criteria are mainly your GPA in relation to others from the same university, the country or finally the world. Other information provided as well as information from our knowledge base (regarding applications and students) may have been taken into consideration as well. English language proficiency (if provided or not) is a legal prerequisite, but not a selection criteria. The non-availability of a Bachelor degree certificate at this point of the process is also not a criteria. Gender and nationality do not play a role."
    or
"The analysis of your application data (application credentials) showed a mismatch between your data and our Basic Requirements as published at http://www.uni-stuttgart.de/infotech/application/requirements/index.html , esp. Point xx"

  • your application could not be accepted by the Admission Commission for the reason stated or because your application did not comply with published requirements (see "Point xx").

C@mpus may show:

    Application Documents: Incomplete
→ One or all of the fields Bachelor Degree Certificate, Transcript of Records, Proof or English Language Skills show an Not Received

The following statements have underlined phrases as used in Campus followed by the status information in colour

  • The status Qualifying admission Requirements: Fulfilled means : You are admitted
  • The status Qualifying admission Requirements: Not Fulfilled means: You are Not Admitted
C@mpus as a tool provides only a limited set of phrasing not exactly covering the status meaning of each individual study program using it. As explained above, in INFOTECH Not Fulfilled may either mean, that basic requirements for application are not fulfilled but in many cases it means that you have been not successful in competition with others for the available seats. The status of your documents, supplied or not, did not play a role.

Legal Base

  • The (negative) decision of the Admission Commission is based on regulations:
  • State University Law of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg (Hochschulgesetz) §59(1)
  • Hochschulvergabeverordnung§20(1), §20(3)
  • Zulassungszahlenverordnung
  • Admission Regulation INFOTECH, University of Stuttgart (Zulassungsverordnung) §2(1a), §2(2)
