We are interested in yeast systems biology. Budding yeast - scientifically called Saccharomyces cerevisiae - is a microorganism, which belongs to the kingdom of Fungi. Since many years yeast has been used as a well-proven model in cell biology of eukaryotes.

Based on its excellent accessibility to molecular genetics yeast has recently also become a pacemaker in modern automatized high-throughput technologies and systems biology.

These qualities make budding yeast a "rosetta stone" for deciphering life systems.

Our research mission is:

(1) Development of computer aided approaches for yeast network biology. Network based analysis of gene function.
(2) Design and analysis of yeast strains qualified for simulation and modelling of defined cellular programs.
