Course Contents

Based on the preparations made in Module 2 the lecture deals with a selection of important observation techniques in Satellite Geodesy

  • Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR)
  • Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI)
  • Satellite Altimetry
  • GPS

For each technique the functional and stochastic observation model are discussed. Error sources and possibilities of their elimination are investigated and standard evaluation techniques are presented. In the end of the course students should be able to assess the possibilities and limitations of all techniques and to decide which method or which combination of methods are suitable to solve a given problem.

Prerequisites

Advanced Mathematics (Module 1) and Geomatics Methodology (Module 2).
