New roads

Leonhard gave lectures again in Stuttgart as early as 1952, dealing solely with the field of Control Engineering, and thus became a pioneer of training in the discipline.

In 1955 the fields of Power Transmission and High-Voltage Engineering were moved to a separate chair, which entailed a shift in the research and teaching focus of Leonhard's chair, which became even more marked in 1962 by the introduction of a new course model called "Electrical Control Engineering". By then the chair had been moved to the Electrical Engineering II Institute, providing enough space for the department, which had expanded considerably over the years.
