His solution made him famous: Fehling's test

In 1848, the year of the revolution, Fehling published his work on "The Quantitative Determination of Sugar in Urine". In this he presented a simple method of determining the amount of sugar in a liquid. The test solution it made use of became known as "Fehling's solution" and has made Fehling's name famous to this day.
