Ten faculties belong to the top group

Uni Stuttgart scores highly in the QS World University Ranking 2013

In the third edition of the international QS World University Rankings, ten faculties from the University of Stuttgart were able to place themselves among the top 200 and with this can count themselves among the world’s elite. Among the newcomers who made it for the first time into the top group resp. were able to improve their ranking compared to previous rankings were the faculties of Mechanical Engineering (rank 47) and civil engineering (rank 49) as well as Stuttgart’s Linguistics (top 100-150 group). Materials Sciences are once again in the top 50-100 group.

The QS World University Rankings are conducted by the British education suppliers QS Quacquarelli Symonds in cooperation with the media partners The Guardina and Chosun Ilbo and are considered to be one of the most influencial of all rankings, particularly in the USA and in Canada. In the framework of the current survey, 2,858 universities from all over the world were assessed and 678 institutes ranked. The comparison is based on eight indicators. The focal points of the assessment apart from research are, for example, also publications and nobel prizes. 68 million citings and 8,391 programmes were taken into account.
