One of the main tasks of the Extracurricular Studies Department (Studium Generale) comprises promoting interdisciplinary further education within the university. That’s why the Extracurricular Studies Department organizes events that are suitable for all students regardless of their chosen degree course, and for guest auditors.
The Extracurricular Studies Department also supports and promotes students’ intellectual and musical interests, pursuant to the Landeshochschulgesetz (Higher Education Act), by hosting numerous events and organizing and supporting research groups.
Specific events are also part of the interdisciplinary key skills qualifications program and can be used to gain credit points for the modular BA/MA study programs.
The Extracurricular Studies Department is also responsible for the organization and administration of the guest auditor study program.
The events offered by the Extracurricular Studies Department include events and research groups organized by the Extracurricular Studies Department itself, as well as a selection of regular study programs at the University of Stuttgart (see general programs). The courses on offer are lectures and seminars that the lecturers deem to be suitable for a large audience.
The printed version can be found in the usual places on campus and is of course also available at the Center for Teaching and Further Education.
