Digital media provide theater historiography with numerous new possibilities. Virtual exhibitions, digitorials and simulations can be used to present scientific content in an innovative way. Digital archives and international databases optimize the quantitative protection of sources and data. A collaborative approach that combines Digital Humanities with more traditional subjects, such as theater historiography, art history and literary studies not only offers new ways of presenting scientific findings, it also paves the way for new forms of interpretation.
This one-day workshop breaks new ground in this field: experts from the fields of theater historiography, art history, literary studies and digital humanities come together to discuss the potential, challenges, boundaries and interdisciplinary requirements of digital media. Each participant will present a lecture from his or her own field of expertise, illuminating and debating the possibilities of animated virtual exhibitions, a quantitative analysis, or a publication.
