Using fewer materials to build for people – lightweight buildings in the 21st century

3/27/21, 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

In the years ahead, we must create living spaces and jobs for more than 2.5 million people. This enormous task can only be tackled if we transform the building industry and build for more people using fewer materials. What will the cities of the future be like? And how can we use significantly fewer resources that we have done in the past, to construct many more buildings? Together, the parting and the new Directors of the Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptual Design (ILEK) at the University of Stuttgart will be showing what solutions researchers have found so far – and where research is needed in the future.
