Panel discussion: November 1918 in Germany.
Belgium and France: End of the war, beginning of Peace?

The end of the First World War caused fundamental changes in Germany, France and Belgium. In the years directly after the peace treaty was signed, the processes of demobilization began to take place at economic, political, social and cultural levels; although these took different forms in each of the three countries and influenced the progression of European history. From political radicalization and the revolution, all the way to economic instability or confident new beginnings – the spectrum of progress showed that the end of the war in no way automatically marked the beginning of peace. A top-class international panel will be illuminating that fateful November in 1918.

With Prof. Dr. Laurence van Yperserle (UCL, Leuwen), Prof. Dr. Stéphane Audoin-Rouzeau (EHESS, Paris) and Prof. Dr. Jörn Leonhard (Albert-Ludwig-Universität, Freiburg).

Presented by: Prof. Dr. Wolfram Pyta (University of Stuttgart)
