The IGTE
In 2018, the new Institute for Building Energetics, Thermotechnology and Energy Storage (IGTE) opened at the University of Stuttgart. The institute was the result of merging the Institute for Building Energetics (IGE), and the Institute of Thermodynamics and Thermal Engineering (ITW) with its research and test center for solar systems (TZS) and the Institute for Energy Storage (IES). New visions and goals have now been established, such as researching how to ensure comfortable living and working conditions in buildings and city quarters that are compatible with energy efficiency, sustainability, and technology. The institute focuses energy storage, renewable energy and room climate technology.
