The entire healthcare system is not only going through a process of digitization, but also of algorithmic saturation. From prevention to diagnostics and treatment, all the way to care, great hopes are being placed in new technologies: The healthcare sector is going to be better, more efficient, more individualized and more cost-effective. But how realistic are these promises? What risks do these developments involve. And primarily: What do those affected, so members of the public, think about this? We have invited experts from various fields to join us, in order to do justice to the breathtaking technological developments in the healthcare sector. Combining these different perspectives makes fundamental reflection on healing with algorithms possible.

Fruzsina Molnár-Gábor will be providing insight into the legal issues of AI use in (bio)medicine. This will be followed by Cordula Kropp who will be joining the discussion with the doctor Götz Martin Richter.

Prof. Dr. jur. Fruzsina Molnár-Gábor, Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Laureate (2020) is a professor at Heidelberg University, a member of the Academy of Young Academics at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, and a member of the European Ethics Council. Its research focuses include medical and data protection law.
Prof. Dr. med. Götz Martin Richter is Medical Director at the Clinic for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at Klinikum Stuttgart. He is currently conducting a study using artificial intelligence to diagnose breast and prostate cancer.
Prof. Dr. Cordula Kropp is a sociologist and expert in risk and technology research at the University of Stuttgart's Institute for Social Sciences. Under her leadership, TechnikRadar 2021 investigated the attitudes of Germans toward the digitization of the healthcare system.

This event is organized by the International Center for Cultural and Technological Studies (IZKT) and the Center for Interdisciplinary Risk and Innovation Studies (ZIRIUS) at the University of Stuttgart, as part of the Stuttgart Science Festival 2022.

This event is part of the series Questions for Colleague AI, which is part of the Year of Science 2022 – Participate!, supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
This is a University of Stuttgart project: Interchange Forum for Reflecting on Intelligent Systems (IRIS), International Venter for Cultural and Technological Studies (IZKT) and the Hochschule der Medien in cooperation with the Stuttgart City Library.
