What international students need to know about taxes

Can I actually deduct my laptop from taxes? How much income can I earn tax-free? And what exactly are advertising costs or special expenses again?

In this workshop, you’ll get an easy-to-understand introduction to the German tax system – without complicated jargon. You’ll learn why it’s especially worthwhile for students and early career professionals to file a tax return – even if you’re “just” working a part-time job.

We’ll cover topics such as:

  • Which types of income are tax-free
  • Which expenses you can claim (e.g., laptop, textbooks, moving costs)
  • What advertising costs, special expenses, and similar terms mean
  • How a smart tax return can help you get money back

Ideal for everyone who wants to keep track of their finances and not miss out on any benefits.
