- 5/26/20, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The 8th German Diversity Day will take place on May 26, when the University of Stuttgart will also be raising a virtual flag in support of diversity.
COVID-19 has seeped into all aspects of everyday life. Many things are possible digitally that we would not have thought possible: working from home, virtual networking and virtual team meetings. The current situation is a huge challenge for both society and the economy. What really counts, is solidarity – pulling together as a big diverse team. Our ideas of what constitutes an appreciative society are more relevant than ever and many people are committed to helping wherever they can! We are showing that diversity is what connects society and the world of work.
On Diversity Day, the University of Stuttgart would like to invite its members to join a virtual diversity tour and idea workshop. Get to know the University of Stuttgart’s diversity concept and our diversity protagonists. Meet others and discuss ideas at our idea workshop on diversity topics. Together, diversity makes us more intelligent.
To register for the ideas workshop that will take place on May 26 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Visit the Webex web page and register. As soon as the hosts have approved your registration, you will receive a confirmation email with information about how to access the workshop. It is now possible to sign up for the ideas workshop. You can either select specific topics. Or click “I don’t know yet” and either be assigned a random topic, or you can make your own suggestions. Set topics that you can already sign up for are:
- Diversity as a success factor: teaching, learning and research in diverse teams; with diversity and inclusion to more innovation
- First generation students – what are the challenges and what support could the university offer?
- Accessibility: Studying/working with a disability or chronic illness – what is everyday life like?
- Forms of discrimination and/or harassment
- Diversity in makerspaces
- How sex matters in drug development
Be part of our diversity day: all university members are invited to send a selfie or self-portrait to the Vice Rector for Early Career research and Diversity. If you wish, you can also hold a sign saying “To me, diversity means …” or “Diversity is important because …” followed by a short statement, or you can send a written statement. We will use the images in our articles about diversity.
