The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with a welcome speech from Isabel Fezer, Head of the department Youth and Education. With the help of numerous hands-on experiments, workshops and exhibits, young visitors can discover science and get more involved. In this way, they learn how exciting and versatile the Stuttgart world of science is. This event is aimed at school students from elementary school to high school, who would like to take part in the activities at the Rathaus (city hall) in Stuttgart, together with their teachers and other educational professionals. Please register for this event. Organized by the State Capital Stuttgart, Department of Science and Universities, in cooperation with the Abteilung Stuttgarter Bildungspartnerschaft (Stuttgart Education Partnership Department)

Registration information: Registration is required for these activities; various time slots are available.

It is possible to register by telephone from 5.18 to 5.25.22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. by phoning 0711 216-98526 or 0711 216-98529.

Registered school classes will be looked after by a guide and taken to the activities they have booked. The meeting point is the Science Festival information booth on the first floor of the Rathaus (city hall). You must select a time slot when registering. Contact: Abteilung Stuttgarter Bildungspartnerschaft email: bip@stuttgart.de Entrance: Free of charge, registration is required.

Virtual and augmented realities (VR and AR) are not only spectacular, they can also support planning and decision-making in cities and regions. With the help of the visualization of 3D city models and simulation results, this complex data can be presented in an understandable and impressive way for participation processes and collaborative planning. The experience also plays an essential role: Participants can experience Stuttgart's city center in VR on foot or - for the more courageous - with the help of simulators on a bicycle, skateboard or in a wheelchair, for example, and test it for potential traffic conflicts and accessibility.

They can also actively intervene in planning in a "mixed reality" environment consisting of a real model of Marienplatz in combination with projections. A live traffic simulation calculates the impact of the planned change. As a third station, the Virtual Dimension Center (VDC) Fellbach will present the potentials of augmented reality by demonstrating product optimization.

Technological developments and political guidelines are not enough to halt climate change in the long term. It needs the sustainability awareness of the community - we need you! With our GREENESTO workshops, we want to shed light on the topic of sustainability and create awareness - without lecturing. In the workshops, everyone can and is allowed to get involved in order to make their individual contribution to a common, global challenge. To support this, we use the Design Thinking method as well as a traditional Japanese repair method - Kintsugi. You want to know what it is all about? Then we look forward to your participation!

Students learn about bioreactors as reaction vessels with future potential and gain insights into bioconstruction with future automation and coupling of biotechnological processes as well as bioinformatics and molecular computing as part of product development.

Students will perform hands on construction of a solar tracker, perform phototropism using the analogy, and gain insight into programming the app.

Students solve an exciting criminal case in a forensic context using genetic fingerprinting, working with a PCR machine and learning the basics of molecular biology techniques.

We are the student Kleinsatellitengruppe of the University of Stuttgart and would like to show at the science festival what students can already realize in space projects during their studies.

We also want to inspire the next generation with exciting projects for the University of Stuttgart, especially for the aerospace engineering course. For this purpose, we would like to exhibit various projects, such as:

  • Our high-altitude research balloon BUBBLE
  • Our flight model of PAPELL, which was on the ISS
  • REXUS experiments, which have flown on rockets or will fly in the future
  • Our satellite SOURCE
  • The successors of PAPELL (FRAGO and FerrAS)

Soyuz simulator to fly yourself
You want to know how astronauts dock with the Soyuz capsule to the International Space Station? Would you like to pilot a spacecraft yourself? In our Soyuz simulator you can do just that! After a short briefing, you take the wheel yourself and can prove your skills during a virtual maneuver in space.

Rover exploration vehicles for alien worlds
To be able to explore the celestial bodies of our solar system on the spot, we need rovers - remote-controlled exploration vehicles that can, for example, examine the surfaces of planets or asteroids. At our rover booth, you can drive one of these moving robots yourself and find out how the systems work.

I see what you do not see
With an infrared camera you can see very different things than with your eyes. Even your cell phone can see some of this light. Imagine being able to look up into the sky with this technology and watch new stars being formed. That's exactly what the flying observatory SOFIA does. Come by and let us show you what there is to discover in the infrared universe.
