Congress of the Future and Festival of the Future: Next Frontiers. Applied Fiction Days

June 26 – 29, 2019

This congress brings together scientists and experts from the business sector with science fiction authors. Shared visions come to life when the various scientific disciplines meet the creative ideas of authors. Participants include the German astronaut Reinhold Ewald, Professor of Astronautics and Space Stations at the University of Stuttgart’s Institute of Space Systems, the best-selling author Andreas Eschbach and the French science fiction author Jean-Michel Troung. Located at the interface between fiction and science, this event will provide insight into the most important developments of our age and future developments.

Divided into six thematic blocks, authors, scientists, computer scientists, architects, artists and start-ups will be meeting with participants at the Congress of the Future to discuss topics such as artificial intelligence, sustainability in the future, data protection, future living space and biotechnology.

The findings of the congress will be explained to the public, accompanied by readings, panel discussions and other events. 

The International Center for Culture and Technological Research (IZKT) is a partner of the Next Frontier organizers gUG, together with the Stuttgart City Library, the Wirtschaftsförderung der Stadt Stuttgart, the GLS-Bank, the Messe Stuttgart and the  MFG Baden-Württemberg.  

This event is part of the Stuttgart Science Festival “Smart and Clever”.
