Women who want to improve their professional collaboration with men and who wish to progress professionally or take on a management position must understand the rules of power and status games.

Content of the workshop

If men and women work together in a team, the collaboration "functions" differently to single-sex teams. And more important still, are the subconscious rules of behavior and communication that occur in a team where, for example, isolated women work in a male domain, or the other way around. It would seem that how the team is compiled has an effect on the rules that come into play and in how the communication works. Women can only decide whether, or to what extent, they abide by these rules or come up with their own alternatives if they know what the pitfalls are.

This seminar will focus on the behavior o people working in teams.

Content:

  • Introduction to group dynamic
  • Seeing through and using power and status games
  • Recognizing and making use of the difference between high and low status
  • How to assert yourself and enforce your ideas and views in meetings
  • How to better market your skills and yourself

Short lecture sequences will be used to impart a wealth of theoretical approaches relating to the topics listed above. You will also be given the opportunity to learn how to implement these using diverse exercises in small groups.
