Approximately 500 academics from Germany and abroad are expected to attend the 40th anniversary of the German Linguistic Society at the University of Stuttgart to discuss current research findings pertaining to linguistic topics. The conference organization will be led by Prof. Daniel Hole from the Institute of Linguistics/German Literature Studies at the University of Stuttgart.

The general topic this year ‘reference and relation’ brings questions to the fore, such as how linguistic expressions are connected to the world and how they are related to each other. Within this framework, 16 research groups will be introducing a wide range of current linguistic research projects. The topics covered include everything from the application of probability theory in linguistics to questions about the history of language, to analysis of the reproduction of speeches and thoughts in narrative texts.
