At the University of Stuttgart, women are actively engaged in all core areas, from research and teaching to studies, technology, and administration. On this year's International Women's Day, the university management emphasizes that equality is a core academic value and that women shape our university, science as a whole, and society with their expertise, perspectives, and achievements.
"The university Rectorate is committed to creating processes and structures that promote equal opportunities. Accordingly, we are committed to transparent career paths, reliable compatibility between studies or work and family life, and a culture of respect,” emphasize the members of the Rectorate of the University of Stuttgart. "Furthermore, ensuring equal opportunities for women and men at the University of Stuttgart is a shared responsibility that must be continually renewed. Future innovations depend largely on human diversity. Anyone striving for sustainable solutions to the ecological, economic, and social problems facing our society must establish conditions that allow everyone to participate according to their individual talents and interests. Let us continue on this path together."
From school to Leadership: Promoting women at the University of Stuttgart
The university supports girls and women at every stage of their careers. On Girls' Day, for example, female scientists and engineers inspire schoolgirls in grades 5 to 10 by showcasing their work and future opportunities in STEM fields. The "Start Science" mentoring program supports the transition from university studies to a career in science. Doctoral students accompany undergraduate students and motivate them to pursue a career in science. The program is complemented by reflection meetings, workshops, and networking opportunities. Students, doctoral candidates, and employees of the University of Stuttgart can also obtain the certificate “Gender and Diversity: Diversity in Language, Society, Research, and in Practice” on the ILIAS learning platform. For outstanding diversity-sensitive managers, the University of Stuttgart is awarding the “Fü(h)r divers!” prize for the third time this year, creating a special incentive to establish diversity in everyday working life.
