After a welcome by Prof. Judith Tonhauser, Vice Rector for Early Career Researchers and Diversity, and her colleagues from the Rectorate, the reception offered an opportunity for personal introductions and informal networking in a relaxed atmosphere over light refreshments. The program continued with a concise address by Rector Prof. Peter Middendorf, who outlined the university's goals, strategic priorities, research profile, and research networks.
For the first time this year, the traditional New Year's reception hosted by the rector followed the welcome reception seamlessly. This enabled newly appointed professors to introduce themselves to the wider faculty and to engage immediately in both academic and personal exchange – very much in the spirit of the University’s strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration (Stuttgarter Weg).

Welcome Event Series
The Welcome Reception is part of a series of welcome events for new recruits at the University of Stuttgart. Followed by two further events, the Lunch Meeting and the Sundowner, it creates an appreciative culture of welcome and makes it easier for new colleagues to get started at the University of Stuttgart.
