About the CWUR University Rankings

The CWUR University Rankings, which has been published since 2012, is not based on surveys or self-reported data from the universities analyzed but rather on indicators researched by CWUR itself. These are presented in four categories. The “Research” category accounts for 40% of the ranking score and is based on an institution’s research performance as measured by four indicators: scientific publications (“Research Output”), publications in prestigious journals, impact, and citations. The “Education” category, which is based on the academic success of graduates, and the “Employability” category, which is based on the number of alumni in top positions, each account for 25% of the score. The “Faculty” category, which is based on the number of researchers who have received major awards, accounts for 10%.
