University of Stuttgart achieves top positions in the THE World University Ranking 2026

The University of Stuttgart has once again demonstrated its strengths at the international level. In the “Industry” category, it ranks among the world’s leading universities. Also in the “Research Environment” category, it earned a strong ranking.

In the 2026 edition of the THE World University Ranking, the University of Stuttgart achieved top positions. In the “Industry” category, it is ranked 38th out of 2,191 universities listed internationally, making it one of the top 2 percent in the world. In the “Research Environment” category, it is ranked 144th, placing it among the top 7 percent of universities worldwide.

In the overall ranking, the University of Stuttgart was once again able to build on its strong performance from the previous year. Ranked in the 251–300 group out of 2,191, it is among the top 14 percent of universities listed worldwide.

About the THE World University Ranking

The THE World University Ranking (WUR) has been published since 2004 and is regarded as one of the world’s most important international university rankings. Universities are evaluated based on 18 indicators in five categories: Research Environment (29 percent), Research Quality (30 percent), Teaching (29.5 percent), Cooperation with Industry (4 percent), and Internationalization (7.5 percent). For the 2026 edition, 174,9 million citations of scientific publications were analyzed, and 108,000 researchers worldwide were surveyed. In total, 2,191 universities from 115 countries and regions were included in the ranking.
