“This marks the fifth award our training program has received from the Federal Association for University Communication, underscoring our commitment to providing career starters with outstanding training across our diverse range of activities," says Lydia Lehmann, Deputy Head of University Communications and Trainee Supervisor ad Coordinator. From external and internal communications across multiple channels to event management, our trainees contribute across all areas - and they do so with great enthusiasm.
Verena Weber, who will complete her traineeship in August 2026, adds: "During my traineeship, I am not only learning the theory but, above all, gaining hands-on experience in university communications. I am looking forward to the second year of my training and to learning much more.”
The PR Editor Traineeship is a two-year training program that complements editorial work at the university with additional professional development and external placements, such as at newspapers, radio stations, or agencies. The Federal Association for University Communication conducts an annual survey of trainees at German universities and awards the prize for exemplary traineeships to universities that meet its recommendations for high-quality training. This year there are eight winners; the University of Stuttgart is receiving the award for the fifth time.
The Federal Association of University Communications is a professional organization for those responsible for communications at universities across Germany. More than 1,600 communicators from universities, colleges, art, music, and sports colleges, dual and private colleges are members.
