“This project is off to a really good start,” says Prof. Manfred Bischoff, Vice Rector for Research and Sustainable Development at the University of Stuttgart. “Providing these e-bikes combines our strategic commitment to sustainability with an immediate benefit for all users, and I hope it will lead to many positive experiences.”

Thirty e-bikes in two models and two sizes are available to university employees for commuting and to students for use on excursions. The e-bikes were purchased as part of the MobiLab project with financial support from the state.

Employees can now experience what it’s like to ride an e-bike to the university instead of driving or taking public transportation. You can access the booking system through the “12Drive+” app using your university e-mail account (see detailed instructions below). During the initial phase of the project, booking periods of one week are planned.

Instructors who would like to take their students on an excursion in Stuttgart or the surrounding area should contact pedelec@uni-stuttgart.de directly.

  • The university administration expects all users to take good care of the e-bikes and recommends wearing a helmet.
  • Important: In the event of an accident, the university does not provide blanket insurance coverage. Accidents resulting in personal injury or property damage must therefore be reported immediately to both the appropriate police authority and the university.
  • If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to send an e-mail to pedelec@uni-stuttgart.de. Enjoy the ride!
