Perspectives for science and family

A warm welcome at Stuttgart City Hall: Mayor Dr. Clemens Maier and Rector Prof. Peter Middendorf welcomed the newly appointed professors from universities in the dualcareersolutions network on Wednesday evening. The Dual Career Soirée also welcomes their families to Stuttgart and gives them the opportunity to network and exchange ideas.

"The recruitment of outstanding academics does not end with the appointment – it begins there," says Middendorf. "The dual-career programs of the universities and colleges are an essential part of our welcoming culture, as they help to ensure that the partners of our newly appointed researchers also find career prospects here. I would like to thank the City of Stuttgart for its close cooperation in this area."

Among academics in particular, there are often couples in which both partners are highly qualified and are pursuing a professional career. In order to meet their career requirements, the Dual Career Program at the University of Stuttgart coordinates the university network "dualcareersolutions" and works together with partner universities in the region.

"Education, science and innovation are the most important pillars and a decisive basis for our prosperity. In order to remain competitive in the future, it is crucial to attract and retain the best scientists for the location. With this reception, we are happy to contribute to ensuring that the newly appointed scientists feel at home here and can settle in well," said Ines Aufrecht, responsible for the Department of Science and Universities at the City of Stuttgart and for the cooperation with the Dual Career Service of the University of Stuttgart.

The partnership between the state capital of Stuttgart and the Dual Career Service at the University of Stuttgart has existed since its foundation in 2009. In addition to identifying career prospects, the Dual Career Program also offers support in finding accommodation and selecting suitable educational and childcare facilities.
