Outstanding support for new students

University of Stuttgart scores highly in CHE rankings

The University of Stuttgart is one of the best universities in Germany at taking care of its new students. These are the findings of the CHE University Rankings published in the newspaper Die Zeit’s guide to student life for the academic year 2019/20, which ranked the support given to new students in the top category in nine out of twelve subjects. The University of Stuttgart also scored well above average when it came to doctoral degree studies per professor and the international orientation of its master’s degree programs, rating in the top category seven and six times respectively.

Within the individual study programs, the Architecture program performed especially well, being ranked in the top category eight times based on assessments from students – from the general student experience to the IT infrastructure to the offer of excursions. In Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, students likewise gave top ratings to the outstanding IT infrastructure and the equipment available in the laboratories, as well as the work experience opportunities for master’s degree students.

The CHE ranking is the most comprehensive and detailed comparison of universities in the German-speaking countries, with over 150,000 students surveyed and more than 300 universities examined. It covers more than 30 subjects, which are reassessed every three years. For 2019/20, these are the following: Architecture, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering/Applied Chemistry, Construction and Environmental Sciences, Educational Science, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Energy Technology, Engineering Physics, English Studies/American Studies, Environmental Science, German Studies, Materials Technology/Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Process Engineering, Psychology as well as Romance Languages.
