The internal funding line "Boost Your Science!" is aimed at early career researchers at the University of Stuttgart. Boost Your Science! enables early career researchers with above-average qualifications to expand their research profile, to gain independence and autonomy, and to enhance their national and international competitiveness.

Who can apply?

The target group is early career researchers (advanced doctoral researchers, postdocs, and junior professors without a tenure track position) from all disciplines who obtained their doctorates no more than five years ago. Personal circumstances (e.g., parental leave, care and support of relatives, long-term illnesses, etc.) can be taken into account.

What kind of funding is available?

The following funding is available for independent, innovative research projects:

  • Material resources
  • Personnel resources, especially for student research assistants (not a position for the principal researcher)
  • Investment funds
  • Travel funds

Projects with a budget of up to €100,000 can be supported over 6-18 months. Applications for projects with smaller budgets are expressly welcome.

How can I apply?

To be reviewed at July meeting of the Research Council, the required documents must be submitted as a PDF file by email to Prof. Dr. Judith Tonhauser , the Vice Rector for Early Career Researchers and Diversity, by June 5, 2026. To be reviewed at December meeting of the Research Council, the deadline for applications is November, 6.

The project description must clearly demonstrate how the project contributes to the development of the applicant's research profile, to the applicant's independence and autonomy, and to the enhancement of the applicant's (inter)national competitiveness. The application should comment on the prospect of continuing the research project with an application for third-party funding. It should also become clear from the application that the requested funds will be used primarily by the applicant. Any shared used by other persons must be justified. A perspective for continuing the project through an application for external funding should be outlined in the application.

The application should also make clear why other internal funding lines at the University of Stuttgart are not suitable. For example, applications for transfer projects can be supported by the internal funding line for the transfer of knowledge and technology and trips abroad for international visibility and networking can be submitted to Global Glimpse.
