STANDARD PERIOD OF STUDY
The teaching degree program in French (B.A.) covers the subject areas of linguistics, literature, cultural studies, and language practice.
Initially, your studies will concentrate on an intensive deepening of language teaching with the objective of attaining the C2 level of proficiency. Training in the language will be complemented by modules in country studies and culture studies.
The studies are arranged with the greatest flexibility possible. You will have a range of options for setting your own core emphasis. This is designed above all to facilitate the integration of study abroad stays with your studies.
Substantiated ability to use the French language at the start of the study program is an absolute requirement. The subject studies do not include learning the French language, but instead build on existing facility with the language. The program is designed for academic study of the language and literature.
Prospective students should:
- be interested in languages and culture
- enjoy reading and writing as well as analyzing
- develop individual initiative, work independently and with precision
- be able to present results achieved in public
- be prepared for a stay abroad
