Study program structure and content

The History of Natural Sciences and Technology study program is not structured chronologically according to historical periods. Instead, the main focus is on learning scientific methods and procedures that can be used to examine sources from different eras. Through lectures, seminars, and the study of original sources from the respective periods, you will explore a wide range of topics - from the technologies behind pyramid construction and the legitimization of experimentation in the early modern era to the development of new materials in aircraft engineering in the late 20th century. The program’s clear structure and diverse modules also give you the flexibility to pursue your own areas of interest. Project-based work, in which students engage with a practical topic over an entire semester, plays a particularly important role for most students.
