Exchange students (non-degree)

Incoming students from partner universities throughout the world can participate in our Erasmus and overseas exchange programs. Learn here how to qualify and apply for these popular programs.

Erasmus incoming students are students who participate in the Erasmus exchange program with one of our partner universities in the European Union and Turkey (excluding Erasmus Mundus) and who come to study for one or two semesters at the University of Stuttgart. To qualify for our Erasmus program, your home university must first have nominated you to participate in the program. A German proficiency on an intermediate level is also required.

If your university is not a partner university of the University of Stuttgart, you may apply as a non-degree student (freemover).

Incoming students from overseas are students who participate in an exchange program with one of our partner universities from overseas (effectively any non-European Union country) and who come to study for one or two semesters at the University of Stuttgart. To qualify for our overseas program, your home university must first have nominated you to participate in the program. A basic knowledge of the German language is also required.

If your university is not a partner university of the University of Stuttgart, you may apply as a non-degree student (freemover).
