At the end of your research stay

Benefit from a wide research network and excellent career possibilities as alumni after your stay.

Formalities before leaving

Before you give up your residence in the town where you live in, you have to de-register at the same Rathaus or Bürgerbüro where you registered your residence after arrival. The form is available there. If you live in Stuttgart, you may also download the de-registration form (in German).

As an employee with statutory health insurance, your insurance will expire after your last day of your employment contract. If you have private health insurance check cancelling formalities with the insurance provider. If you hold a European Health Insurance Card you do not need to do anything.

If you leave Germany, you should cancel your bank account before departure. This must be done in the written form. Please go to the bank in person and also return your bank cards.
