Participative governance for doctoral degree studies

DoKUS – the Doctoral Students Association of the University of Stuttgart

DoKUS advocates for the interests of all doctoral students before the University’s decisionmaking bodies and provides a sympathetic sounding board for any questions and problems they may encounter during their studies.

Are you contemplating going for your doctorate at the University of Stuttgart and want to learn what the experience of our doctoral students has been? You are already pursuing your doctoral degree and are interested in your fellow doctoral students‘ experiences in the program? Want to have a voice in framing the conditions for your doctoral studies? Or do you have a conflict with your doctoral degree supervisor and are at a loss how to resolve it on your own?

As a department-spanning advocacy group representing the interests of all doctoral students of the University of Stuttgart, we are prepared to answer your questions about your doctoral degree studies, intercede in cases of conflict, and lobby the various University committees for optimum doctoral studies conditions. The state’s higher education law expressly provides for setting up an advocacy group that will ensure greater codetermination rights for doctoral students at the University.
