Ombudspersons are appointed by the Senate for the duration of six years and are the first contact persons concerning suspected cases. Also persons suspected of scientific misconduct can contact the respective ombudsperson and ask for advice or support. Each member of the university is entitled to a prompt conversation with the competent ombudsperson. According to Section 9 Para. 3 Sentence 4 of the university statutes the ombudsperson is sworn to secrecy.
