Career
Wolfram Ressel, born in Munich in 1960, successfully completed his civil engineering studies in 1987 at the Technical University of Munich and his doctorate in 1994 at the Chair in Transportation Operations and Road Facilities at the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich. As managing partner he managed an engineering office for Civil Engineering and Surveying in Munich from 1993. Since 1998 Wolfram Ressel has held the Chair for Road Design and Construction at the University of Stuttgart and is the Managing Director of the Institute for Roads and Transportation. From 2000 - 2006 he was the dean of the faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Since October 2006 Wolfram Ressel has been the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Stuttgart. Prof. Ressel is active in various committees and organisations, among others in Präsidium des Deutschen Hochschulverbandes (DHV) (Chairmanship of the German Association of University Professors and Lecturers) and on the board of Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik e.V. (ASIIN). (Accrediting Agency for the Study Courses of Engineering, Computer Sciences, Natural Sciences and Mathematics).
