Air Quality Control, Solid Waste and Waste Water Process Engineering (WASTE) M.Sc. - auf Englisch

The monitoring of air and water pollution as well as the removal of waste are challenges that societies throughout the world have to face. Qualified, multidisciplinary engineers and scientists are needed to master these environmental challenges. The M.Sc. programme WASTE is designed for international students wishing to find employment in their home countries or in internationally operating companies, research institutes or universities. German students will find an international study environment with additional knowledge in the solution of international environmental problems. Additionally, the German students are supported in doing their Master’s Thesis abroad. The WASTE Master’s programme will provide participants with a profound knowledge of the state of the art in the field of environmental technology. At the beginning in the first semester all students take compulsory courses which focus on the advanced fundamentals of environmental process engineering. In the second and third semesters, students have to choose two of the three specialization areas of air quality control, solid waste and waste water in accordance with their own interests. In addition, a number of elective courses from any of the three specialization areas can be selected. The taught courses are supplemented by scientific and practical work within the research activities of the university institutes as well as by a student research project, which is strongly recommended to the students. Many of the courses and lectures of the second and third semester have seminar character, i.e. that the students have to work out projects by their own or in small groups and present them. The fourth semester is dedicated to the Master’s Thesis, which can be prepared at university or outside in research institutes or companies.
Although all classes are taught in English, students participate in German language courses to improve their language skills.
