Water in all of its utilizations is essential for Humankind. It may be the allocation of drinking water, the protection of groundwater, the use of hydropower, or the irrigation of agriculture, and much more. In all of these fields there is a large demand for qualified, multidisciplineoriented engineers and scientists for planning and management roles.
The Master of Science Programme WAREM is especially targeted to responding to this demand, and both international and German students are encouraged to apply. All lectures are offered in English, however due to our longstanding history of integration and collaboration with our partner institutes, a wide spectrum of courses in German are also available.
Currently, WAREM offers over 70 courses covering a broad range of topics tailoring to individual student interests.
The program itself is subdivided into three full semesters following three major study areas:

  • Groundwater Resources Management and Geohydrology .
  • Hydraulic Engineering and River Basin Management .
  • Sanitary Engineering and Water Quality Management

The fourth semester is for scientific research and the preparation of the Master's Thesis. International students are offered semester-long German courses, and German students must take one semester abroad. To round off the program, students will participate in excursions throughout Europe to visit various water-related sites and experience the impact of projects on the environment first-hand.
