PHYSICS M.Sc. - auf Englisch

PHYSICS is taught entirely in English and takes two years (four semesters), including a one-year research project. Our programme is designed for holders of a BSc degree in physics, international students as well as German students who would like to study in an international environment. Established in 1999 and accredited in 2008, this international study programme enjoys a stable and reliable reputation.
The focus of the programme is on Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics. During the first two semesters lectures, seminars and an Advanced Physics Laboratory are held. All courses are at postgraduate level and will not only provide an extensive introduction but will also consolidate knowledge of the most important areas of modern physics. In the second semester, PHYSICS students can choose between a specialisation in Theoretical Physics and Experimental Physics.
During the last year (third and fourth semesters), students concentrate on their research project which can be undertaken either at one of the participating institutes of the University of Stuttgart or at one of the two Max Planck Institutes on campus (MPI for Solid State Research and MPI for Intelligent Systems). Whilst working on their project, students are directly involved in a recent research area in either Theoretical or Experimental Physics.
