The Mechatronics curriculum is interdisciplinary and aims at providing graduates with a general training. It is based on the mechatronic system approach as required by modern, computer-based manufacturing technology. The base modules of the course (year 1 and 2) comprise a balanced range of units from mechanical and electrical engineering as well as computer science. To finish the Bachelor of Science degree after year 3 additional modules in the area of mechatronic devices and computer science for production must be chosen. Mechatronic devices deals with the integration of mechanics, electronics and computer science for the development of intelligent hardware for machines and vehicles. Computer science for Production specializes in the integration of computer science and production techniques with a special focus on software technology. These two areas can be deepened in the M.Sc. degree in two further years.
