Food Chemistry (State Examination)
Food chemistry is a special field of chemistry. Its prime task is the protection of consumers. Food chemistry mainly uses chemical analytical methods. The introductory half of this course of studies is taught at the Universität Stuttgart. The second half of the course is held at the Universität Hohenheim, which is also located in the city of Stuttgart. Food chemists are sought for not only by state authorities but also by the industry, by universities and as freelancers. Amongst other things, they analyse and control foodstuff and cosmetics.
